The Mexico Lions Club is proceeding with Wednesday night’s fireworks show at the Optimist fFields in northeast Mexico. Lions Club member Ken Dowell says the determination was made Tuesday morning to go ahead with the fireworks display. He says the City of Mexico will have a couple of fire trucks out near the site as a precaution. The Optimist Mushball Tournament is on as well. That starts at 11:00 Wednesday morning along with the food sales provided by the Lions Club. Mexico Public Safety Chief Susan Rockett says parking is not allowed along Summit Street or Agricultural Street to watch the display. She says the nearby parking lots at the Optimist Fields, the Old Farm Professional Building, Azdell Hydraulics and the front lawn of the Missouri Veteran’s Home can be used for parking.
