Cauthorn Brick Bill Gets Governor’s Signature

A bill sponsored by Mexico State Representative John Cauthorn ensuring preference is given to Missouri-made bricks and forest products has been signed into law. Governor Jay Nixon put pen to paper Tuesday morning to the bill that will help Mid-America Brick in Mexico. House Bill 1231 changes the classification of bricks and forest products to commodities to give them priority over out-of-state products the state must purchase if they are as good or better in quality. Nixon classified the bill as a win-win for the state and the taxpayer. Cauthorn is not seeking re-election this year and will retire from his seat at the end of the year.
