Power Line Problem Closes Mexico Intersection

A power line frying a tree kept Mexico Public Safety and Ameren officials busy on Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to the intersection of North Jefferson and Hendricks around 4:30 p.m. They found a branch had fallen onto two power lines near a home. The limb caused the lines to arc, sparking a small fire in the tree.

The intersection was blocked while Ameren crews secured the area.

The fire was contained and the roads were reopened about 45 minutes later.

There were no injuries from the incident.
