Mexico’s First Burn Ban Declared

Just days after being given the authority to do it, Mexico officials have issued the city’s first “Burn Ban.”

On Monday, the Council approved an ordinance that allows Public Safety to enforce such an order.

At the recommendation of of Public Safety Chief Susan Rockett, City Manager Bruce Slagle declared a burn ban within the city limits effective Wednesday.

It will remain in effect for ninety days, or shorter if conditions improve.

Until the ban is lifted, open burning within the city limits is prohibited.
