Crews with the Mexico Public Safety Department are able to quickly put out an engine fire on a car before it can spread Friday afternoon. Public Safety Assistant Director Brice Mesko says crews were called to the 200 block of West Liberty at about 1:10 Friday afternoon for the car fire. Arriving crews found flames under the hood of the vehicle. The fire was contained and put out with only the engine compartment sustaining fire damage. Mesko says there was some water damage to the passenger area of the car. Mesko says damaged electrical wiring is thought to be the cause. No one was injured in the blaze.
