The Mexico High School softball squad is advancing in the district tournament after a 7-4 win over Macon Wednesday night.
The Lady Bulldogs got on the board during their first at bat,with a solo home run from Danielle Baumgartner. Three more runs were scored in the second inning.
Macon was able to narrow the gap in the same frame with two runs.
Mexico was held scoreless for two straight innings, despite loading the bases. Meanwhile, Macon got two more runs in the fourth inning.
Anne Baker struck back for the Lady Bulldogs in the sixth, hitting a two run homer. Brooke Costley also got an RBI single.
Danielle Baumgartner pitched for the Lady Bulldogs. She recorded 15 strikeouts, 2 walks, and allowed 5 hits.
They move on to face Kirksville (17-5) tonight at 7:00 at Gallop Field.
