Several arrests were made in Mexico Friday as part of an effort by the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department to insure the safety of children across the county. kxeo spoke with Audrain County Sheriff Stuart Miller who said his office is paying close attention to this issue:
“It is an effort on the part of my detectives here at the Sheriff’s office. We are checking on residences of all the sex offenders to make sure they are living outside of their 1000 foot restriction for schools and daycares and the 500 foot rule for parks that have playgrounds.”
Friday three sex offenders were arrested in violation of the laws regarding living or being near schools, daycares and parks.
39 year-old Bradford Lee Beck of Mexico was arrested for residing within 1000 feet of a school or child daycare.
59 year-old Paul Martin Ewing of Mexico was arrested for both living too close to a school or daycare and being physically present or loitering within 500 feet of park with a playground or pool.
59 year-old Roy Oscar Morey also of Mexico was arrested on both offenses as well.
Ewing and Morey were able to post $10,000 bond.
Beck’s bond is set at $5,000.
