The St. Louis Cardinals lost 9-6 to the Chicago Cubs last (Thursday) night in their first game back from the All-Star break.
The Cardinals had an early lead, however could not hang on with a familiar cloud of errors and a 5 run inning for the Cubs against Carlos Martinez.
Yadier Molina had 4 hits in 5 at bats in the loss.
In other Cardinals news longtime coach Ron “Pop” Warner was promoted to bench coach yesterday (Thursday).
Warner joined new hitting coaches Mark Budaska and George Greer last (Thursday) night it was the first time interim manager Mike Shildt had his complete coaching staff in place since taking over the team this week.
