Missouri Task Force One has moved their operations to a different location in North Carolina, and is currently the only remaining FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Task Force remaining in the state.
The Boone County Fire District reports part of the crews have moved to Pender County, North Carolina. Among them are three Human Remains Detection Canine Teams and a 10 person support team.
The canine teams and their support element are operating in conjunction with a 50 person Swiftwater Rescue team from Charlotte Fire Department. They will be searching several large subdivisions in Pender County.
This is projected to be a multi-day mission.
