Mexico Has First Black Female Mayor

The Mexico City Council made history Monday night when they chose Dr. Ayanna Shivers to serve as mayor for 2019.

Shivers was unanimously selected after a nomination from Council Member Vicki Briggs.

Mayor Shivers is assuming the role from Chris Miller, who termed out of the mayoral position after 2 terms.
