The St. Louis Cardinals with a 12-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers last (Monday) night on the road.

The Redbirds offense erupted for 8 runs in the first 2 innings, coasting to their fifth consecutive win.

Yadier Molina and Paul DeJong each hit homers, and the Cardinals now hold a 3 game lead over the 2nd place Chicago Cubs in the National League Central.


The Kansas City Royals with a 19-4 loss to the Oakland A’s.

It was an opportunity for Royals Gold Glove outfielder Alex Gordon to live out a childhood fantasy.

With the Royals down by a dozen runs going into the seventh inning, manager Ned Yost decided to let Gordon pitch.

He went 1 and 1/3 innings, giving up five hits and three runs.

The most runs allowed by the Royals in a game was 22 against the Red Sox in 1994.

The Kansas City Chiefs players are enjoying some early recognition by ESPN.

The people at ESPN publish a listing of who they believe will be the top 100 players in the NFL prior to every season, and this year the Chiefs’ have seven representatives and match the New Orleans Saints for the most of any team in the NFL.

Rounding out the top of the list at number 18, tight end Travis Kelce.

Coming in at 16 is wide receiver Tyreek Hill, and number 2 on the list is quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City opens up the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 8th.
