The Missouri Tigers Nation is trying to pick their heads up today and move on after the NCAA announced yesterday (Tuesday) it will uphold sanctions against Mizzou Athletics, including postseason bans for football, softball and baseball.
In a joint statement from MU Chancellor Alexander Cartwright and Director of Athletics Jim Sterk said the decision is frustrating and disappointing.
Lawmakers have been weighing in on the decision also.
Governor Mike Parson tweeted a statement calling for significant reforms to the NCAA’s role in intercollegiate athletics.
Senator Roy Blunt said the facts in this case clearly do not support these unfair, unwarranted sanctions.
The sanctions came after the university self reported violations after a tutor completed course work for 12 student athletes.
Missouri Tigers Men’s Basketball team lost 77-66 to the Oklahoma Sooners in the consolation game of the Hall of Fame Classic last (Tuesday) night in Kansas City.
Juniors Mark Smith, Jeremiah Tilmon, Jr. and Dru Smith combined for 40 of Mizzou’s 66 points, including 31 in the second half to fuel a comeback that fell short.
Mizzou returns home next Tuesday to take on Charleston Southern at Mizzou Arena.
