The Washington Redskins are expected to officially announce this (Monday) morning that they will be changing their nickname, however no new name will be revealed just yet.
Washington’s logo of an American Indian chief had been designed by a Native American in 1971.
Their head coach Ron Rivera has said the team wanted to include the military in its new name.
Team owner Dan Snyder and the franchise have been under pressure to change Washington’s nickname after the protest against social injustice started following the May death of George Floyd in Minnesota.
Another player is joining the Missouri Tigers football 2021 class.
Coach Eli Drinkwitz announced over the weekend that Jonathan Jones has committed to play for the Tigers, over the likes of Baylor, Colorado, Nebraska and his home state Texas Longhorns.
Jones is a 6’4, 240 pound defensive end with a 3-star ranking.
