Audrain County health and community leaders meet to discuss the latest efforts to combat COVID-19.
During the weekly meeting, held virtually today (Wednesday), it was learned that because of the recent outbreak in Vandalia, the City of Vandalia has closed the lobby of city hall and is handling city business through their drive-thru, and that the Audrain County Health Department purchased an AED or Automated External Defibrillator for the Lange Building in Vandalia.
The Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, along with the King’s Daughters Home in Mexico are both closed to visitors.
The Mexico School District is in need of both substitute teachers and bus drivers.
Dr. Sandra Hewlett, Administrator of the Audrain County Health Department, said her agency is working with nursing schools to allow student nurses to get practical hours in as most cannot be training in other healthcare settings.
The State Board of Nursing has relaxed some of their requirements and are allowing student nurses to spend more time practicing clinical skills in labs at their schools, according to Hewlett.
