After months of debates and discussions the Mexico City Council voted to approve amendments to a chicken ordinance during tonight’s (Monday) Mexico City Council meeting.
Mexico City Manager Bruce Slagle says this ordinance refers to urban chickens and will give more Mexico residents the opportunity to own chickens.
The Mexico City Council voted 5-1 in favor of passing the amendments to the chicken ordinance.
Councilman Chris Williams was the lone no vote.
Both Williams and Slagle commented during the meeting and cited concerns of how the new ordinance gets enforced.
The cost of the permit will be a one time fee of $10.00 and will go into effect once the ordinance is published sometime over the next several days.
