The City of Mexico and Audrain County have received their first deposits from marijuana sales tax on December 3, 2023.
Voters approved the 3% sales tax on recreational marijuana on the April 2023 ballot.
The City of Mexico and Audrain County each received a deposit of $10,047.18 from the sales tax that started being collected during the month of October from the Green Relief which is Mexico’s only dispensary.
Audrain County Presiding Commissioner Alan Winders says the Commission has not made any firm decision on where the money will be used.
The total estimated sales for the Green Relief Dispensary in Mexico for the month of October is about $670,000.
