Mexico Board Of Education Approves Several Hires For Upcoming School Year

Mexico Public Schools is pleased to announce Mrs. Jennifer Barnett as the incoming Mexico Middle School Assistant Principal.

Mrs. Barnett has 15 years of experience teaching.

She began her educational career in Centralia as an eighth-grade science teacher.

After 12 years of teaching seventh- and eighth-grade science, she recently transferred in-district to Mexico High School to teach biology and earth science.

Mrs. Barnett has a deep love and passion for public education, especially with Mexico Public Schools.

She is an involved member of the Community Teachers Association (CTA) and is the current president.

Jennifer believes it is important for educators to support one another so educators can provide support to students.

She adds, “My career in education has allowed me to combine my love for school with my belief in supporting both my students and fellow educators in my community to give back to the town that raised me.

It’s definitely not easy, but it is very rewarding, and I’m proud to say that I’m an educator, especially in my hometown of Mexico.”

Jennifer is the proud mom of Kelly (4th grade) and Bryan (Kindergarten).

She is married to Mr. Adam Barnett, who teaches at MHS.

Jennifer and Adam are both proud MHS alums.

Mrs. Barnett assumes her role as the new MMS Assistant Principal on July 1.

Mexico Public Schools is excited to welcome Dawn Malone as the incoming Director of Business Operations at Central Office.

Dawn has worked in school finance, accounting, and administrative roles for more than 30 years.

Dawn brings experience in school finance from her former positions with Harrisburg and Columbia school districts, where she was responsible for payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, state and federal grant compliance, bond fund management, and the annual budget.

She is also professionally connected with other school finance professionals through her membership with the Missouri Association of School Business Officials (MoASBO).

The role of Business Operations contributes to the success of students, faculty, staff, administration, and the community.

Dawn added, “I place high value on the responsibility we have to the community and our taxpayers to ensure the funds are used wisely.”

Dawn is excited to work with the team of education professionals at Mexico Public Schools and, in partnership with her team and the administration, provide exceptional financial management to the district.

Dawn officially begins her role on July 1.

She was hired to fill the position of Director of Business Operations in place of Stephanie Norris, who leaves the district after a decade as a Bulldog.

Stephanie will be moving to the St. Louis area for family obligations and has accepted an advancement position with an STL school district.
