Walgreens is set to close a significant number of its roughly 8,600 locations across the United States as the company tries to reset the struggling pharmaceutical chain’s business.
According to reporting from CNN the company did not announce a specific number of store closures, but said on Thursday, June 27, 2024, that is it is planning substantial closures of its under performing stores across America as part of a multiyear optimization program.
CEO Tim Wentworth said on a call with analysts on Thursday, that changes are imminent for the roughly 25% of stores that are not profitable.
