Former Mizzou runner Karissa Schweizer finished 8th in her qualifying heat of the 5,000 meters on Friday, August 2, to advance to the final in Olympics.

Schweizer will run in the final on Monday, August 5th, at 2:10pm.

She will try to improve on her performance in the 2020 Olympics, where she finished 11th in the 5,000 meters.

She will also run in the 10,000, in which she was 12th in the last Olympics.

The Kansas City Royals defeated the Detroit Tigers 9-2 last night to pick up their fifth straight win.

Royals catcher Salvador Perez recorded his 20th home run of the season with a 448 moon shot at Comerica Park.

Perez picked up two RBI in the game to give him 887 RBI in his career, moving him into sole possession of fourth place on the Royals’ all-time list, behind only George Brett, Hal McRae and Amos Otis.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost 6-3 to the Chicago Cubs on Friday, August 2, 2024.

Starting pitcher Erick Fedde made his Cardinals debut.

The Cubs touched up Fedde for a season-high-tying five earned runs–all taking place in the second inning.
