The top U.S. runner in the 5,000-meter at the Olympic games was former Missouri track and field and cross country star Karissa Schweizer.
She placed 10th in the 5,000-meter finals yesterday (Monday) with a time of 14 minutes, 45.57 seconds, leading the Team USA contingent in the event in Paris.
It was Scweizer’s first top-10 finish at any distance in an Olympics final.
Schweizer’s Olympics are not done, as she will compete in the 10,000 finals on Friday afternoon.
The St. Louis Cardinals were shut-out 6-0 by the New York Mets at Busch Stadium yesterday (Monday).
It was a makeup game of a May 8th rainout.
The Cardinals offense went 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
The Kansas City Royals lost 9-5 to the Boston Red Sox at the K. Boston’s offense pounded Kansas City pitching for 18 hits.
The Red Sox are the team chasing the Royals in the American League Wild Card standings and are now 1 1/2 games out of the third spots.
The Kansas City Chiefs locked down their Super Bowl-winning kicker Harrison Butker to a four-year $25.6 million contract extension.
Butker’s new deal includes $17.8 in guaranteed money.
The deal makes the 29-year-old-the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.
