The Mexico Lady Bulldogs advanced in the Class 4 District 5 bracket by dominating Holt 10-4 on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
The Lady Bulldogs trailed early, however, captured the lead 5-4 in the bottom of the second when Landri Teel tripled scoring two runs, and Payton Shaw grounded out scoring one run.
Mexico added to the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kayleigh Samuelson singled up the middle, Hannah Loyd hit a sacrifice fly, and Holt committed an error.
Landri Teel singled to center field, Payton Shaw singled to left field, each scoring one run.
Aleigha Henderson pitched four and one-third innings in relief.
She did not allow a run and struck out four batters.
Keerstan Ewing started the game and struck out one batter over two-thirds of an inning.
Mexico stole 12 bases in the game.
Mexico head coach Hanna Jones says “Maddy Fegger and Landri Teel were a force together in the lineup, as they collected two hits while hitting back-to-back.
Maddy’s two hits were both bunts.
Teel provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Mexico with two runs batted in.
Landri went 2-for-4 on the day. Loyd, Ewing, and Feger each stole multiple bases for Mexico.”
