Mexico head coach Gayle Adams says “It was a good weekend of wrestling.
Our district has some very competitive teams in it.
A lot of state placers and state champs will come from our districts.
Mexico got over the first hurdle qualifying for State, now the eight qualifiers need to recharge and gear up for State.
You can look at the bracket and say we didn’t get a good draw or we did get a good draw.
At the end of the day the guys need to go into State and wrestle to the best of our abilities.
The kids need not to be satisfied just qualifying.
Taking eight kids to state is great.
The hard work is paying off for them.
These kids are 14-18 years old and they are growing as wrestlers and great young men.
A lot of excitement this time of the season, we need to let it ride into the State and earn some medals.
Two District Champs at 106 and 175 is always good for the program.
They are showing the younger guys that they need to put in the work to get what they want.”
The State Wrestling Tournament takes place at Mizzou Arena this Wednesday, and Thursday, Feb. 26-27.
