Statewide Tornado Drill Planned In Mexico On 3/5/2025

The following press release is from Mexico Public Safety Department.

The week of March 3rd through 7th 2025 is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Missouri and Kansas.

Audrain County Joint Communications and Mexico Public Safety will be participating in the statewide Tornado Drill on Wednesday, 03/05/25 at 11:00AM by sounding the Mexico outdoor warning sirens.

This is a good week to think about severe weather and what you can do to stay safe.

Residents are reminded that the Mexico outdoor warning sirens will only be sounded when there is a tornado warning issued with Mexico in the path or when there is a reliable sighting of a tornado approaching Mexico.

Everyone should also keep in mind that the sirens are designed to warn people who are outside and should not be relied upon to provide warnings to people inside a building.

Additional sources of information include local TV and radio, NOAA weather radios, or cell phones.

In the event of a tornado, people are encouraged to seek shelter in the interior on the lowest level of a sturdy building.
