Trespassers arrested at old hospital in Mexico

Two 18-year-olds who describe themselves as “urban explorers” got an unexpected look inside Mexico Public Safety’s facilities yesterday—after being arrested for trespassing on the grounds of the old hospital.

Police identified the pair as Jacob M. Hayse and Jerome M. Hawkes, both of Hartsburg. Officers responded to a call shortly after 3 p.m. in the 600 block of East Monroe, after security cameras recorded two individuals entering the vacant hospital building.

Authorities quickly located the suspects and transported them to the Mexico Public Safety Department.

Hayse and Hawkes told officers they were simply “exploring” the property. Both were processed and released, pending formal trespassing charges.
