Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is out for the season after undergoing successful surgery Monday night in Dallas to repair a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee.
Mahomes suffered the injury late in Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Chargers a defeat that ended Kansas City’s playoff hopes.
The team says he’ll begin rehab immediately, with recovery expected to take about nine months.
His status for next season’s opener remains uncertain.
