A fatal head-on crash in Boone County Tuesday night left one woman dead and a man injured on Route E near Akeman Bridge Road.
Around 8:25 p.m., a northbound 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Cruze head-on.
The 24-year-old Harrisburg woman driving the Cruze, died at the scene; her body was later taken to the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Dodge Ram driver, a 23-year-old man from Harrisburg, sustained moderate injuries and was hospitalized at University Hospital.
It’s unclear if he was wearing a seat belt; the woman was not.
Troop F notes this is December’s fifth fatal crash and the 50th fatality of 2025.
Next of kin have been notified.
