Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the 500 block of Robinson Street late Friday night for a structure fire. Crews were called out at 11:35pm, after a resident reported being awakened by his smoke detectors, and then found fire burning through the ceiling.
MPSD located a fire in the attic and worked quickly to extinguish the flames. The attic suffered significant fire damage and the rest of the home suffered minor smoke damage.
The fire appeared to be caused by an overloaded electrical circuit due to multiple space heaters running at the same time.
There were no injuries from the incident.
