A high-speed chase that went through two counties Saturday night ended up in a tactical maneuver stoppage near Grindstone Parkway on Highway 63.
The pursuit began when Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies were notified of a stolen truck at around 10:25 p.m. The vehicle was reported stolen near State Road OO. Deputies found the truck and attempted to stop it near County Road 4031.
The driver, 33-year-old Zachary Ryan Fewins of Holts Summit, refused to stop and began a chase that saw speeds in excess of 130 mph. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia Police Department assisted Callaway deputies and deployed spike strips as the driver approached Columbia.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol then performed the tactical vehicle intervention, bringing the chase to a stop.
Upon a search of the vehicle officers located a stolen pistol as well.
The driver is being held in the Callaway County Jail awaiting formal charges.
