MU to add more services to Keene Street locations

Family Medicine-Keene Exterior

As health care across mid-Missouri continues to centralize, MU Health Care is seeing an increasing demand for both clinical and surgical services across its system.

In response, the UM System Board of Curators approved an $83 million project last Thursday to renovate and expand infrastructure at MU Health Care’s Keene Street medical campus in an effort to decentralize the Columbia campus.

This continues a recent trend of moving more outpatient services away from the main hospital campus to avoid overcrowding at University Hospital.

The improvements, which will be phased in over the next 10 years, will see an addition of CT scans, radiology and laboratory services, to the Keene Street Medical Center and Keene Street Health Pavilion.

The facilities currently support a range of outpatient procedures and services, including surgery, an ambulatory infusion unit, pharmacy services, neurological services, MRI services and a pre-anesthesia clinic.

The phased approach to construction will allow current operations at the medical center to continue uninterrupted while improvements are made.
