A red flag warning is in effect today for much of mid-Missouri, as windy, warm, and dry conditions increase the risk of wildfires.
Fire officials are urging residents not to burn outdoors that includes brush piles, debris, and welding in dry grass, even small sparks can quickly spread out of control.
Residents are also asked to properly extinguish cigarettes, secure trailer chains, and call 911 right away if they see smoke or fire.
