The Mexico Bulldog boys seemingly took control of the top seed in the Class 4 District 8 tournament with a convincing 62-47 win over Moberly last night at the Sportsplex in Mexico.
Mexico used a dominant second half to pull away from the Spartans as they scored 43 points in the third and fourth quarter to pull away for the win, after trailing 24-19 at the half..
“I thought defensively we just got after them,” said Mexico Coach Darren Pappas. “and, offensively we came alive in the 2nd half.”
Kaden Benne led all scorers with 19, while Brady Thoenen added 16 for Mexico and Charlie Fischer chipped in 15 points. Kish Jacobs had 12 for the Spartans.
The Bulldogs are now 18-7, and 7-2 in conference play.
Moberly did take the early game, defeating the Lady Bulldogs 55-48 as Mexico trailed by one at the half and after three quarters.
Moberly’s Olivia Dunwoody led all scorers with 21, while Grace Hudson paced Mexico with 13 and Charlie Douglas added 12.
