Homeschooling in Missouri has doubled since the COVID-19 pandemic, according to new research from St. Louis University’s PRiME Center.
The study estimates that about 6% of Missouri children around 61,000 students, are now homeschooled, up from just 3% before the pandemic.
Researchers say families who began homeschooling during school closures are choosing to continue, citing flexibility, safety concerns, and a desire for personalized learning.
Parents say homeschool co-ops across Missouri are growing fast, as more families view homeschooling not as a temporary fix but as a long-term educational choice.
