Missouri Officals Warn of Fake Arrest Warrant Phone Scam

Missouri residents are being warned about a new phone scam involving fake arrest warrants.

Court officials say callers are impersonating judges, deputies, or court staff, claiming victims missed a court appearance and must pay immediately to avoid arrest.

Boone County reports multiple calls over the weekend.

Officials say it’s a variation of the long-running jury duty scam, using fear and urgency to pressure victims into sending money.

Court Administrator Derek Hux says real warrants are never handled over the phone.

If you get one of these calls, hang up, don’t share information, and contact your local circuit clerk to verify.

You’re also urged to report the scam to law enforcement.
