Moberly Man Accused of Impersonating Officer in Airport Carjacking Attempt

A Moberly man is in custody after police say he impersonated an officer and attempted an armed carjacking at Jefferson City Memorial Airport.

Officers were called to Airport Road Tuesday after a woman reported a man claimed to be a police officer and tried to take her vehicle.

Court documents say 28-year-old Brian Koch approached her car, asked for a ride, then pulled a revolver and a machete when she questioned his identity.

The victim backed away and escaped. Officers later arrested Koch nearby.

Police say he had a knife, a fake badge, and suspected meth.

Koch faces multiple charges, including armed criminal action and vehicle hijacking.
