A Harrisburg student has been killed in an accident in Poweshiek County, Iowa.
14-year-old Robert Orton was in the car with his father, 38-year-old Michael Orton, who reportedly failed to yield at a railroad crossing and collided with a train.
Michael Orton was airlifted to hospital for his injuries, while Robert Orton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Robert Orton was due to start at Harrisburg High School this fall. The school district has made a statement saying, “Robert was a member of our Bulldog family, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time.””
