A Holts Summit woman was arrested Saturday for a scheme in which she tried to charge rent on a property she didn’t own.
47-year-old Crystal Atwood was reportedly arrested after a man made a report to authorities saying that he paid Atwood a $4,200 security deposit, but Atwood told him the property owner backed out.
The real owner of Atwood’s apartment included in the lease that she could not sublet.
Atwood was arrested on charges of Forgery, Stealing, and Resisting Arrest. She bonded out of the Callaway County Jail for $5,000.
