Murder Trial Set for Lincoln University Student

A Cole County judge has scheduled a five-day jury trial for January 2027 in the case of a Lincoln University track athlete accused of killing a fellow student-athlete.

Denita Jackson faces charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the February stabbing death of senior sprinter Kevaughn Goldson.

According to court documents, Jackson told investigators the two were in a long-term, volatile relationship and allegedly stabbed Goldson after finding him with her roommate.

Goldson later died at University Hospital.

Jackson remains jailed without bond as she awaits trial.
