The Cubs pounded Kansas City pitching yesterday with 18 hits on their way to a 10-2 win over KC. The Royals only runs came on a two-run homer from outfielder Sterling Marte.
After the game, Kansas City announced they have signed 38-year-old veteran reliever Craig Kimbrel. The nine-time All-Star, and 2011 National League Rookie of the Year, he’s won both the NL and American League Reliever of the Year awards. Tampa Bay designated him for assignment last week. Kansas City’s bullpen has struggled most of the year, with an overall ERA entering Saturday at 5.32, which ranked second-worst in MLB behind the A’s
