Columbia area leaders and Missouri Department of Transportation officials will celebrate the new St. Charles Road Bridge opening over Interstate 70 with a ribbon cutting at 10:30am today.
The old bridge, built in 1957, was closed back in April and then demolished. The new bridge will accommodate three lanes of traffic underneath it in each direction on I-70. Plus, it’s taller to allow better clearance for taller vehicles. It’s also been upgraded with pedestrian crossings on either side of the bridge, according to a news release from MoDOT.
The St. Charles Road Bridge is expected to fully open to traffic this Friday.
