A Columbia man is facing four felony charges following a shooting Saturday night in Randolph County.
Court records say 41-year-old Jefferey D. Layton is charged with first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon while intoxicated.
Deputies responding around 10 p.m. found a person with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators say Layton had been drinking before an altercation with the victim. A handgun, shell casings and other evidence were found at the scene.
Layton pleaded not guilty Monday and is being held without bond. His next hearing is scheduled for August 17.
