Columbia’s Planning and Zoning Commission is moving closer to drafting regulations for potential data centers.
During its sixth and final work session Thursday, commissioners discussed concerns involving electricity, water and zoning.
The city plans to review public feedback October 22, with a draft of the proposed regulations expected by December. A public hearing is scheduled for January 7.
The proposal would then go to City Council for consideration.
Columbia’s data center moratorium remains in effect until May 2027, preventing new data centers from being built in the city.
