Two Central Methodist University football players are facing assault charges after allegedly fighting a teammate over being late to practice.
Twenty-year-old Kamarrion Ferguson and 22-year-old Michael Hourel were charged with third-degree assault Monday, according to court documents.
Police say the fight involved a team rule requiring players who arrive late to practice to fight a teammate as punishment.
The victim sought medical treatment in Columbia and was referred to a concussion specialist over concerns about a possible brain bleed.
Ferguson and Hourel are scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
