The Columbia Housing Authority is moving forward with a roughly 14-million-dollar redevelopment near downtown that will renovate or replace 25 affordable apartments at Providence Walkway.
The project includes renovations to 16 existing units and construction of nine new apartments.
Improvements will address aging foundations, plumbing, insulation and electrical systems, while adding energy-efficient features.
All 25 apartments will have rental assistance, with residents’ payments based on their income.
The Housing Authority says residents will be temporarily relocated during construction and helped with moving expenses.
