More Details In Boone County Bomb Threat

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department is releasing more details on a bomb threat at the Midway Travel Plaza just after 8:00 this morning. [Monday]

Deputies responded to a trespass call when a man had been asked to leave the property after attempting to start a fire.

While on their way to the scene, dispatch was contacted by the suspect who said he had a bomb in a back pack and he would be waiting for the deputies.

Deputies attempted to persuade the man to walk away from the back pack.   When he refused law enforcement used a less than lethal shotgun to fire one beanbag round at the subject.

He was taken for medical evaluation.

Further inspection of the back pack revealed there was no explosive device.
