Retirees Honored At Mexico Board Of Education Meeting

The Mexico Board of Education presented nine district retirees with golden apples at their meeting on Tuesday night.

The retirees had a cumulative 88 years serving the district.

Those receiving their golden apples were Angie Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Kim Black, Jennifer Gore, Mary Ann Kasubke, Roger Turner, Darvin Nichols, Amy Auwarter and Tori Webber.

The board continued discussions about the soccer field.  They had previously discussed three options.  The first one would be to reshape the track around the current soccer field, the second would be to move the field to the empty space outside of the track and the third to move the field to the high school.

A motion was made to get a bid to find out what the total cost would be to move the soccer field outside the track.

Superintendent Dr. Zach Templeton updated the board on three projects that will be completed over the summer.  The roof at the Central Office building will be repaired, the HVAC system at Eugene Field will be replaced and the gravel on the playgrounds at all the elementary schools will be replaced with mulch.
