Mexico Football Loses For First Time This Season To Hannibal

The Mexico Bulldogs Football Team lost for the first time this season 48-21 to the Hannibal Pirates.

Hannibal rushed out to a 21-0 lead.

Then Mexico scored for the first time in the 2nd quarter on a 54 yard, three minute and 2 second drive that was capped off by a Michael White 10 yard rushing score.

It was 21-7 Hannibal.

The Pirates would quickly score again making 28-7.

The Bulldogs would get some momentum after Michael White intercepted Hannibal quarterback Courtland Watson and ran it back 88 yards putting the ball on the 5 yard line.

A penalty was called on Hannibal and Mexico would score on a 5 yard pass from Ty Sims to Matt McCurdy with no time left on the clock and it was 28-14 at the half.

That is as close as Mexico would get.

The Bulldogs would score one more time in the 2nd half on a 53 yard touchdown pass from Ty Sims to Anthony Shivers.

The Bulldogs are now 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in the North Central Missouri Conference and will play in Fulton against the Hornet next week in the 54 Bowl.

It was also Homecoming for Mexico.

Riley Thurman was crowned the 2021 Homecoming Queen.

She was escorted by William Dobyns.

Riley is the daughter of Eddy and Lisa Thurman.
