Mexico Bulldogs Football Team Wins Ninth Straight Highway 54 Bowl Over Fulton Hornets

The Mexico Bulldogs Football Team defeated the Fulton Hornets 35-14 to win their 9th consecutive Highway 54 Bowl tonight (Friday) in Fulton.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Hornets would strike first at the 8:46 mark of the 2nd quarter on a 9 yard touchdown pass from their quarterback Dustin Hagens.

Fulton would miss the extra point and led 6-0.

Mexico would tie the game with just 17 seconds left until halftime.

It was set up by a 38 yard punt return from Anthony Shivers.

Then Michael White would score on a 1 yard touchdown run.

Mexico made the extra point and led 7-6 at the half.

The Bulldogs would get the ball first in the second half, and scored on their opening drive in the third quarter.

They put together a 52 yard drive that was completed with a 6 yard touchdown from Michael White.

The Bulldogs led 14-6 with 8:32 left in the third quarter.

Mexico would score again on a 20 yard touchdown run from Anthony Shivers with three seconds left in the 3rd and after the extra point it was 21-6 Bulldogs.

The Hornets made a one touchdown game with another touchdown pass from their quarterback Dustin Hagens. It was 21-14 Mexico.

That is as close as it would get.

The Bulldogs would answer back with a 77 yard drive, and a 36 yard touchdown run from Anthony Shivers, and this is your Webber Pharmacy/Jackson Street Drug Play of the Game.

The Bulldogs would finish the night on a 56 yard touchdown run from Andrew Runge with 2:24 left in the 4th quarter.

The Bulldogs improved to 5-1 on the season, and the Hornets dropped to 0-5.

Mexico will be back on the road again next week when they travel to Kirksville to face the Tigers.
