Mexico Public Safety Responds To House Fire On West Maple

Damage to a Mexico home is being reported by Mexico Public Safety after they responded to a fire yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

It happened in the 400 block of Maple just before 1pm.

Responding personnel found a small, wood frame home with flame burning through the roof.

It was determined that three of the four walls on the house were unstable, and Mexico Public Safety knocked the walls down.

The residents say they had built a fire in the wood stove when they noticed a flu fire.

The flu was apparently damaged and started igniting flammable items which were stored near it.

The residents exited the home with no injuries and called 9-1-1.
