Sports Betting May Be Coming To Missouri

Betting on major college and professional sports could be coming to Missouri.

The bill was given first round approval yesterday (Wednesday) in the Missouri House.

Another vote is needed before it can move to the Senate where a similar bill is already in discussion.

The difference in the bills is how much tax would be assessed.

The House bill fixes the tax at 8% while the Senate bill would carry at 21% tax, the same rate casinos pay on the net from other forms of gambling.

Estimates are that Missourians will wager around $150 million annually on sporting events.
