The first happened at 11:58 am in the area of South Jefferson and Clay where power lines were down across the roadway.
Officers found that 37 year old Stephen Nixon of Alabama, was attempting to turn his tractor-trailer unit at that intersection and hit a utility pole.
The intersection was blocked a little over an hour until Ameren could remove the broken pole and make the intersection safe.
The second accident happened at 12:02pm, when Mexico Public Safety responded to the 1600 block of East Liberty in reference to a crash at the railroad overpass.
Responding personnel found that 24 year old Leroy Miller was traveling westbound in a 2010 Dodge pulling a trailer with a grain bin on it.
The bin hit the railroad overpass and partially fell from the trailer.
The roadway was blocked for about an hour until the bin could be removed from the roadway and Kansas City Southern ensured the overpass was safe.
